Maxim Schurakowski, stage name SaxoMax. Saxophonist from Cologne, conservatory-trained, coached by Grammy winners and playing weddings and events across Europe for more than twelve years.
Because hardly any instrument comes as close to the human voice. A saxophone can whisper while two people say “I do”, and it can set a whole ballroom on fire.
That contrast is exactly what I love. I don’t just play songs. I watch what is happening in the room and play what your guests need in that moment.
From my first notes with my father to the big stages.
Music runs in our family. My father plays the saxophone, and my very first lessons came from him. That is how I found my way to the saxophone so early.
I studied saxophone and flute at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem. There I learned what lies behind a great sound: technique, listening and a great deal of practice.
I developed further with two greats of the saxophone: Bob Mintzer, conductor of the WDR Big Band, and Bob Reynolds, saxophonist of the John Mayer Band. Both have shaped my sound and my playing.
For more than twelve years I have played at weddings, corporate events and parties. From an intimate garden wedding to a gala with 4,000 guests, in Cologne, across North Rhine-Westphalia and Europe.
